Clifton Elite Roofing is a roofing company in Clifton, NJ with more than 20 years of experience on the roofs of Passaic and Bergen County. We repair, inspect and replace roofs on single-family houses, two-family homes and small commercial buildings, from prewar slate to postwar shingle roofs to the flat sections tucked behind so many North Jersey houses.

Much of our work is on older homes, where decades of patches, reused flashing and tall brick chimneys are part of every job. That experience shapes how we look at a roof: carefully, from inside and out, before anyone talks about price. It also means we know the local rules that apply to a re-roof here, from New Jersey’s two-layer limit to the town ordinances on dumpsters and work hours.

Our Approach

We start with a straight answer about whether your roof can be repaired, and replacement only comes up when it genuinely cannot. On a leak call, someone goes into the attic as well as onto the roof, because water usually enters well away from where the ceiling stain appears. Storm damage is photographed and written up for your own claim, and our crew will meet the adjuster on site if you ask. Sound old slate is repaired with matching stone, copper nails and slate hooks rather than torn off by habit.

When a roof does need replacing, the written scope lists tear-off, decking, underlayment, flashing and ventilation as separate lines, so you can compare it with any other bid. If an overlay is not allowed, we explain why before the estimate. Damaged decking is photographed and shown to you before it is replaced, at a per-sheet price fixed in the contract. Chimney, step and counter flashing are replaced rather than reused, and ventilation is balanced from soffit to ridge.

We also try to be good guests. Contracts follow New Jersey’s home improvement rules, including the three-day cancellation notice. Two-family jobs are scheduled so the tenant upstairs knows when we arrive, solar panel removal is built into the schedule from the start, and the yard, driveway and gutters are cleaned every evening with a magnet sweep for nails.
